I'm From Nz And Love Bluff Oysters...

...because Bluff oysters are big, fat and juicy...and I could sit and eat them forever...and I love them cooked and battered as well but much prefer them in the raw...they are soooo delicious... unfortunately I'm in the North Island and we have to pay heaps for them up here..between $2.50 to $3.00  per oyster but since my brother works for Sealord's Fisheries he can usually pack a few punnets for me to indulge in... they are soooo yummy...

Bluff oysters are definitely NOT salty or chewy - they have a unique flavour that you would always remember once you've eaten one - if cooked the flavour is different again but still delicious - i'd rather eat them raw though and love to savour each one - when you bite into it the juices practically burst out of it - compared to 'ordinary' oysters the flavour is probably a little stronger but its the plumpness of the oysters that makes it so different to other oysters...

I live in the states, and rea lly enjoy the different varieties we have here. Can you describe the flavors of them in NZ? SOme of ours are salty and chewy, some are quite mild and only get flavor from what you dip them in, as in horse radish, cocktail sauce, cilantro, etc. Just lots of different nuiances. Just curious if you dont mind answering. BTW, they always taste even better when you wash them down with a fabulous Margarita! !lol
