I Almost Died
First time was when I was in a serious car accident at the age of five, where my mom and sister died. I had severe road rash, and was badly cut in a few places. I was thrown out of the vehicle onto the highway, so I would say that was narrowly escaping death
The next time was when I was about six and our large dog who was on a chain attached to a lead (the clothes line) got his chain wrapped around my neck and strangled me. My step-mom saw me passed out when she looked out the window and was able to remove the chain and I was able to breath again. The chain burn was brutal.
Third time was at the age of sixteen, when on a road trip with friends, the driver of our car lost control and hit a transport. Totalled our car, but we were all ok.
Fourth was during childbirth of my first child. I suddenly went into distress and they had to get the baby out asap. They did a If it were the olden days, I would have died. I had to have a 4th degree episiotomy (youch) and he was forced out with all their strength with forceps. On top of that, the epidural wore off, and it was the worst pain of my life. If that didn't work I would have had an emergency C-section. They already told my husband to get into his scrubs in order to rush me to the OR. Anyway, it all turned out ok in the end, but I was the talk of the nurses station for a few days.
That's about it.
