No Matter How Big Or How Small

Ever since I was little, about 6 or 7, I would always bring injured animals into my house and try to save them. I remember the first animal I tried to save. I was at my great-grandmother's house playing a board game. I believe the board game was "Sorry." As soon as I was about to make my move, a robin slammed into the big sliding glass doors and made a loud smacking sound. It made me jump. I was terrified. I then stood up and walked out the doors. As soon as I stepped out, a little bird was laying next to me, motionless. At first I thought it was dead, but I scooped it up into my tiny little hands anyway and brought it inside. My great-grandmother, who is a complete germiphobe, wasn't too happy about me bringing the little animal in her house, but she didn't make me take it back outside. I built a little fort thing that was dark and comfy in her living room and layed the little creature down on a pillow I'd put in my fort. Next, I found a blanket and put the blanket over the bird, and continued petting it. I examined it from head to toe, made sure it wasn't bleeding and I also made sure that nothing was broken. Aside from lying there motionless, the bird was fine. My great-grandmother and my sister still thought it was dead, but I didn't want to believe it. I had hope that it was still alive, maybe it was knocked out? I continued "caring" for it for the next thirty or so minutes, and then it opened it's eyes and started to move. It wiggled it's way out of the blanket it was under, and was frightened as can be. It managed it's way out of my little "fort" that I built and flew all around the house. It scared my sister and my great-grandmother, and I was just trying to catch it. It hit the ceiling a couple times, hit the wall a time or two and finally I ran over to the sliding doors and let it out because I was afraid it'd actually kill itself this time around. It was free, and it survived. As I thought originally, it just got itself a little knocked out. I guess if it had to get knocked out, it got knocked out in the right place at the right time, and thankfully I was there.
