My Life Changing Experience.

On Aug.23 2008 after getting off work at the bar I was bartending at , I had had a few to many drinks and was invited to go to some friends house. With out even thinking I left with them and got into there Jeep Wrangler and the next thing I know I am screaming at the driver to slow down as I scramble to put my seat belt on. It took us all of 3 min before we where thrown out and landed in a field. I woke up on my back and could not get up. I was taken to the hospital where x-rays showed that my lower left leg was shadderd. Later i found out that the driver had been drinking and that is why he had lost control. I had 2 surgeries to put my leg together. But only a week later there was a infection that had got in from the foliage in the field I was in. All the hard ware had to come out and 6 weeks of antibiotics where pumped into me. I had a few more surgeries that included a muscle graft to feel the hole the infection left. I was in a boot and on crutches for 14mn before the doctor thought there was sufficient enough healing to start putting weight on it. After only a few days on it I woke up on Halloween of 2009 I went to get in the shower and found my leg was bent inward about 35 degrees. Thats when I knew it was not going to be good. I had another surgery to find the infection was still in there and the only way to get rid of it would be to do a below the knee amputation. So here it is 8 mn since my last surgery and I am doing fantastic! Even though it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do or go through, I am just happy that it over and I am walking again.Every thing has been smooth sailing ever since. I have gotten back on my bike and was able to ride 26 miles with a organization called ROMP. I have my days that are not so great and I sometimes cant believe this has happened to me. But this is what God wants for me so i make the best out of it. I am so lucky to be alive. Oh and by the way the other two guys in the Jeep with me where fine thank the lord. So what is the moral to this story don't drink and drive and know the people you are riding with and do not accept a ride from them if they have been drinking. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God bless!
