Some people in my English class have no idea what the play of Romeo and Juliet says. They think it's super complex, when it's really the easiest thing ever to me.

I feel you! You are me a couple years ago. We spent so much time in class interpreting, trying to find meaning. That, and all the people who think its a tragic story of true love. It's literally saying "look at these people. They're stupid. Lust isn't love, and hate spawns death..Don't be like them. Don't be stupid" At the beginning Shakespeare summarises the plot too, you think it would help. I can understand not getting the older English, but we spent so much time translating it wasn't a valid reason at that point.

Without footnotes some of the speeches are too cryptic without extensive research but overall, yeah, it is not hard to grasp.
