i was born again at aged 42 which was 32 years ago,I had no idea what it meant until I accepted Jesus Christ at an outreach meeting. I immediately had a new way a new idea and new concept to life ..My wife too, It was not about rules and regulations but a love of God to please Him . Everything looked and smelled different . Colours looke better, grass greener I took notice of God;s Word stopped swearing, and other things I had done all my life .I believe it is the fear of God (reverential fear ) I love everyone, forgive, help and try to be a witness .I tried telling many people but it was too strong for them ,just love them into the kingdom. I explain the born again as like a radio one is the AM signal the other the FM signal one is mono(am) and crackly the other is FM and stereo clear and without interference so I now have 2 frequencies one of the human spirit the other God's Holy Spirit . What I fear most is people going to Hell and I cannot tell them as they shut me out,.I can onlt pray for them. The hardest to witness to is my kids ???? I lov ethem very much they don't listen???

Yes Jesus does teach that you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven without being born again, to be born again is not through the flesh it is through the spirit and the water, to be a born again believer is to believe and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to be Baptized, for the remission of sins, as in the following bible verses:

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:2-4 (in Context) John 3 (Whole Chapter)

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

the bible also teaches that it is possible to lose your salvation:

Jeremiah 2:19
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

I would agree with most everything posted here, but not all, because there is more to being born again than just feeling good about yourself and thinking you are saved when in fact you may not be.

The term born again has never been full explained, not even by Jesus, and this is where I separate from others. Being born of water and spirit are two different things. Many have taught for years that being born of spirit is accepting Jesus and of as being baptized. This is not true according to the bible.

There are two spirits at work on earth, the spirit of God and the spirit of the Antichrist, where both teach about Jesus, only one is false and the other is truth.

To be born of spirit is what comes first. That is the sowing of the seeds that Jesus talked about. To be born of water is to be accepted by Jesus. Hence, if Jesus denies you then you are only born of spirit and not water.

Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw." John 4:13 - 15

To be born again is changing the way you perceive things, mostly that God is in control. Satan failed on this because he wanted to be in control and ruler of all things. His disobedience was called sin.

To be forgiven means to be free of sin, or free from denying God. Jesus was free of sin because he never denied God. As for the definition of sin that has come to be known as breaking the commandments, it is not of God.

I don't agree with the people who wear their faith on their sleeves and call it born again. Many have called on Jesus and were not saved. You must be accepted by God and Jesus to be saved, and that you may not find out until you are dead.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." Mat 7:21

Once saved always saved? Yes, no exception, you cannot loose salvation. Once they accept you they will not forsake you, but you may never know it since many believers go through hell all of their lives and appear to be sinners to those who do not teach truth.

"Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore." Ez 37:26

The covenant of salvation will never be broken, but Satan wants you to believe it can.

Congrats, I'm also Born again. This is the best experience that could ever happen to an individual: the experience of salvatioon.
Its very important that you guard it jealously , please know that there's nothing like eternal security that is once saved, forever saved. The moment an individual goes into sin, he/she looses the salvation experience that is why the book of 2nd Timothy 2 verse 19 tells us that the Foundation of God standeth sure, let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.
Dont be decieved by false teachers or prophets who excuse sin, lets live a live that glorifies God in our conduct, lets preach the gospel to a dying world having compassion on them and lets continue to intercede for the lost and also the body of christ.
Happy sojourn

And being born of the Spirit means that the Holy Spirit has come to dwell inside the Christian to guide, teach, and comfort those who love God. They show their love by obeying the Holy Spirit which is God. God is love, and the spirit of God is the spirit of love. A person who is born again is baptized in the Holy Spirit, in other words, filled with love, peace, and joy. When a person has the Holy Spirit in them they do what God tells them to do and say what God tells them to say, and in doing so, they no longer sin, and aren't enslaved by their old ways of unforgiveness but work for peace instead. When one is baptized in the Holy Spirit, God's presence is made unmistakeably clear and there is no doubt at all that God is real and that his essence is love. Love doesn't mean that we will never get offended, God gets angry, Jesus got angry while he was here in the flesh, and like anybody else, we all get angry, it's what we do after we get angry that matters, to forgive or not to forgive. There is so much that a born again Christian could be doing if they had enough faith, but faith comes through the hearing of the Word.........the world at large can not stand hearing what Jesus taught...but if you are willing to understand, more understanding will be given to you.
