Suffer In Silence (a Poem)

This was one of the first poems we wrote after figuring out we were a survivor.

A bunch of people have asked for copies and it's even on a website for Ritual Abuse survivors.

The format isn't right, but we don't know how to fix it on here. So we're posting it as is.

we hope it helps someone here.

          SUFFER IN SILENCE

  Suffer in silence.
  suffer in shame.
  Live life in terror.
  Always afraid.
  Don't feel the anger.
  Ignore the pain.
  You know there's a reason.
  Give it a name.

  Abuse.
  Abuse.
  Sexual abuse.
  There I said it.
  Aren't you proud?
  Shhh.
  Be quiet.
  Don't say it too loud.

  Someone might hear.
  Then they'd know.
  Hide it.
  Deny it.
  Don't let it show.

  Do you hear me?
  Do you know?
Do I have to be alone?

  NO.
  Reach out.
  Grab hold.
  They'll understand.

  STOP.

  Pull back.
  Don't trust.
  They wouldn't want me.
  I'm bad.  Remember?

  No.
  Stop.
  Go back.
  Reach out.

  Suffer in Silence?
  No.
  Not now.
  No more.
  I've named it.
  It's real.
  Now I can Say it.

  Abuse.
  Abuse.
  ******?

  Shh.
  Be quiet.
  Don't say it too loud.

  NO.
  Speak Up.
  Speak Out.
  Let people know.

  I Am Not Alone!
