Shattered Dreams

I had dreams just like be successful, financially comfortable, and to leave a legacy for my child.  I involved myself in a real estate business with some partners I did not know well.  Little did I know that they were involved in illegal activities that I would never choose to be involved in.  As soon as I found out, I sought assistance from legal authorities requesting help as my life was being threatened.  I then spent the next 2 years of my life and every cent I had trying to recitify the problem situation that my participation caused.  To make a long story short, I made a mistake which amounted to a white collar crime.  I entered a plea agreement and was only charged with one count of mail fraud.  It could have been much, much worse.  My name was on every legal document, their names were not.  I have not yet been sentenced.  I am in the process of putting my life back together, trying to figure out where I will live and work.  I worked for corporate America for 30 years, but with my credit being destroyed, and now a fraud conviction, returning to the industry I have background in is not an option.  I do have an entrprenurial spirit, so I am looking at various selp-employment options.  I am not a success story yet, but I intend to be one!

I guess it depends on if you have money! And I don't mean that in a condescending way. but if you can create your own business you are way ahead of the game. I am unable to achieve that kind of capital so I am kind of stuck in a similar situation so I feel your pain! Let me know how you do!

I just joined this group but your story caught my eye immediately. It was me a couple years ago. Recovering from those mistakes has been the struggle of my life! I found my saving grace with the internet. Now I spend my time trying to help others that have been in the same situation. I can tell you one thing. I have grown more as a person in the last four years, since I became a convicted felon, than I ever did during my whole life before it. I am a better man, husband, and father because of it. I sincerely wish you the best. If I ever can be of assistance please let me know!

Perseverance, that is what will allow you to regain your life. It will not be easy, but that is what got some of us into this situation to begin with, something that was 'easy'.<br />
Peace be with you.......

I like your spirit. Don't give up! and stay real, and you'll make it. Absolutely, good luck to you!

Although putting your life back to where it used to be may be a little of a challenge, I believe you're gonna do just fine. And when you do get back to where you want to be, thats going to be a beautiful story to tell your child because you may have made a mistake but you've turned that mistake into a success! Good luck!
