Am proud to be....

As Mrs Beeton said "A place for everything and everything in it's place" That is the key to a well organised home, and my biggest tip. Tidy up as you go along so things don't become too much of a chore.
I also have a cleaning rota which I try to stick to if I can, I find it helps me greatly. Monday and Wednesday lounge and kitchen, Tuesdays and Thursday bedrooms and bathroom. Friday is my play day, the day I get to go shopping, meet up with friends or get my hair and nails done. Every domestic goddess needs a day off!

Now I've got a bit of a routine going and I don't have to work, it's easy to keep on top of the house and have dinner ready for my Husband when he gets in from work. Slow cookers are great too, I am in love with mine. I usually make a casserole on a Friday because I am out for most of the day. It's so easy to throw some meat and veg into the slow cooker, cover with plenty of stock and depending on what meat you've used, some ale, cider or wine. Do it in the morning before you leave and in true domestic goddess fashion, you will have a gorgeous homely meal to come home to. You can make batter mix for Yorkshire puddings (actually better if you leave it to stand anyway) or dumplings in the morning too. Just cover with cling film so they don't dry out and put them in the fridge ready to cook,  half an hour before you serve up. Trust me, nobody will ever know you haven't been slaving over a hot stove all day!

They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and it might just be true so I always keep biscuit dough in the fridge too. Roll it into a sausage shape, wrap in silver foil and you can slice 'rounds' off to bake when you need them. This is good for those unexpected visitors too and there is nothing more welcoming than the smell of home cooked biscuits as you walk through the door!
Most people are so busy these days. I hope these tips have been some help. If you have some tips of your own you'd like to share, I'd love to hear your comments..... :o)
