My love of firefighting began way back in US Navy boot camp, Great Lakes.  There is so much to write about.  Hopefully I can add more to this story later on.  I could write forever on my firefighting experiences and the love of what I do.  I began a formal firefighting career in 2003 as a volunteer firefighter, and I've also been a Hotshots Firefighter since 2004.  That means besides structure fires, etc., I also travel all over, wherever we are needed, at a moment's notice to fight wildfires.  I just finished and passed Firefighter I and II.  My instructors are the absolute world-class best!  All that's left to do is the practical (hands-on) exam this spring and I can go anywhere in the state and be a paid professional Firefighter.  I rarely deal with discrimination; for the most part everyone is awesome with me and very supportive.  Some people look at me and say, "You're a what?"  They can hardly believe it.  My 22-year-old son also fights fires right alongside me in both departments, and has since 2004.  There's nothing that can quite compare to this.  Remember, "Everything I Do, I Do It For You."
