    The opinion seems to be biased. The crux of the story for me to know the remedies irrespective of where happened.

      A rape is a rape..sex without consent.What remedies will be there for a bruised,battered and a broken soul not to mention a violated body? Can anyone(men) imagine the trauma of this act?
      And what can one say of the Laws which state statutory requirements that women need to have four(4) male witnesses to prove rape?!! How ridiculous can it get ??? And then,they get arrested for reporting a rape-the women themselves!!!!
      Just try to imagine you being a victim of an accident - wounded,battered,dazed..and then you should assemble 4 people who will vouch & testify that you indeed had been in an accident - irrespective anyone was present or not..and then, instead of being tended to..you get arrested and put in jail!!!!
      Remedy that!!

      misconception, that is in case of maximum award of punishment ie death in brutal manner. Other punishment need not to prove by 4 witnesses.

      Thank You..that is really such a huge relief ..after a woman is raped!! Perhaps being killed in a brutal manner would be a better remedy after being raped!!(again!!)..better than being insulted and abused in public when alive.

    India Has A Rape Crisis,But Pakistan’s May Be Even Worse :
    The infamous gang-rape (and subsequent death) of a young medical student on a Delhi bus last year in December has cast a harsh glare on India’s ancient patriarchal attitudes towards women as well as the country’s epidemic of rapes.
    The incident and ongoing sweep of protests may mark a historic turning point for Indian society and now several laws and aid-groups to prevent such incidents from happening again.

    However in Pakistan :-

    Rapes occur across Pakistan for a wide array of reasons – for pure lust, for revenge, to avenge a rejected marriage proposal, for religious and ethnic reasons, or simply to satisfy a predatory man’s desire to exert unadulterated brutality and power and that the women just wanted to have sex with the man and was asking for it.

    Adding to the unremitting horror, the social stigma surrounding rape frequently leads to the victim committing suicide (often aided and abetted by her own family!!!!) or being forcibly married to her attacker (to preserve her family’s "honor."???!!)

    Perhaps the most famous rape victim in Pakistan was Mukhtar Mai, the illiterate village woman in Punjab who endured a brutal sexual assault by up to 14 MEN in 2002, survived, sought justice through the courts and became a symbol of the country’s complete disregard for the fairer sex.

    ALL of her rapists were ultimately ACQUITTED after a lengthy series of trials that went all the way up to the Pakistani Supreme Court nine years later.

    THE LAW HAS STRANGE CONDITIONS :

    It is notoriously difficult to even prove a rape occurred – in some cases, the courts require eyewitness verification from four Muslim men (an impossibility in 99.99 percent of such incidents.{ So women when being raped have to call at least 4 men who will witness the rape-ofcourse they may join in the revelry and then stand as witness that the rape occurred.)

    In addition, as a bizarre twist, FEMALE RAPE VICTIMS ARE THEMSELVES ARRESTED AND IMPRISONED IF THEY EVER REPORT THE RAPES !!

    On a broader scale, Shahla Haeri, a women's studies professor at Boston University, characterized rape in Pakistan as "often institutionalized and has the tacit and at times the explicit approval of the state.”

    Maheen Usami, a journalist, put the grim reality of Pakistan in context in a blog published by the Express Tribune almost two years ago.

    “Despite the lip service paid to the rights of women and their ‘honor,’ most women in Pakistan are treated as chattels and dirt, to be trod on, spat upon and trashed verbally and physically,” she fumed.

    “If there is so much respect for women in Islam, then why is there a daily litany of abuse heaped on their heads?”

    But according to Elam on AVfM those women must be getting drunk, flirting and making out with men, going home with them at 2 in the morning, and wearing slutty clothes, otherwise they wouldn't be getting raped.

      I agree, and even if they did that still does not mean those women are asking, begging, or demanding to be raped as he claims. If that were the case we women could argue that any man who asks a woman out, shows her attention, hits on her, goes around with his shirt off, tight pants, speedos, gets drunk, does dirty dancing, or asks a woman to go home with him late at night is also asking to get raped. Its all so absurd and shows how biased and bigoted he is against women.

      Men who marry a woman who has skinned him from his children, wealth and belongings should take the blame. He should be careful on who he marries next time.

      No. He should not take the blame, unless he did something wrongful to cause it to happen, but he should be careful on who he marries next time.

      Rapes, yes. 'Honor' killings though? I'm not denying it, I'm just saying, its not Western Culture, to kill a woman for wanting to leave her abusive relationship.

      honor killing are in villages and tribals....but a crime is a crime ... if a girl gets rape in pakistan/india it doesnt matter what was the reason behind it either its honor or for sexual desire but rape is a rape and the criminal should be punished like that so he will be an example for the society ...even if a girl gets rape in US or anyother western country , that is wrong too and the criminal must be punished hard.... think widely for me reason doesnt matter , what matter is how we will deal with such Criminals !!

      yeah here i agree with you too, because of that old tribal culture they dont punished those peoples and they have their own rules....if i was president of my country i will hang those peoples on streets ... but for me and other educated guys from pakistan we are trying our best to defend our nations pride not by weapons by our open minded thinking and from oour words ....and thanks by the way for tell me a nice guy :)
