Future Funeral Director; Current Peon.

Hey there!
My story started at the age of 19 when I lost my mother to leukemia. She was 45 years young.
I cannot honestly say that this very moment was when it happened...another words, my need to serve in this business, however I can say with certainty, that this moment defined my life thereafter, and made me who I am today. That time of my life was filled with extreme grief. Not only did I lose my mother, I lost my mentor and friend, but it is true what we preach; time does help heal. Thirteen years later I find myself consumed with others grief, and to this day, it still helps me deal with mine.

I'm still a "noob" in the business with only 4 years under my belt, but I have enjoyed every experience thus far. Each and every family brings a new and sometimes unique perspective to my journey, and I am so appreciative for that.
I start mortuary school in August 2012, and I'm SO ready. Currently I assist in everything, including embalming and arranging, but I still have so much to learn. Thankfully I work with an amazing owner who still values his families, and has not succumbed to the greediness this business can sometime consume one with.

I want to encourage all who are considering this business, to go for it, but do not enter into it lightly. We are here to serve families dealing with one of the most difficult times of their lives, and NOT to gawk or disrespect the deceased in any way.

I do want to add that a sense of humor is a must, and the occasional bottle of wine and/or hard liquor.
