Get your own job going.

I am working for a landscaping/nursery place while getting my own lawn care business going via craigslist , word of mouth and business cards.

Making $12 an hour at my day job I make about $600 working 55 hours a week.
This is more than most people make without a 4+ year diploma, and statistically speaking more than most.

I can mow, weedeat and edge a medium sized lawn in about 65-75 minutes and make about $50. To make what I make working 55 hours a week I need to mow 12 lawns. That takes 15 hours, maybe 20 tops counting travel time.
If I work 40 hours a week mowing, I can make $1,200 or so. That's 24 lawns. Mowed every two weeks that's 48 customers.

You need to get 48 loyal customers and you will make in 6 months of work 40 hours a week as your own boss, that you would working 55 hours a week at $12 an hour.

Find a job like this that fits what you want to do. My friend became a DJ because he loved music and always knew what would be the next big thing. He dropped out of high school and was making $3k a night playing in Dallas at 24.

You don't have to mainstream.
