Things Are Getting Festive

Good grief - the festive season is well and truly in motion. Simple tasks like strolling at a leisurely pace through shopping centres or casually scoring a parking spot becomes a fight till-the-death sort of scenario that makes us feel ill. It’s that time of year where the elders of Yuletide have governed it completely acceptable to string multi-coloured icicles across every visible surface of the home, which some believe determines how merry your insides are. Don’t get us wrong, we love a good fairy light strung here and there, but this season allows for some to be a tad excessive. Let us not forget that the holiday’s bring out those few human beings that feel it is a perfectly adequate past time to either play dress-ups with your (willing?) pet of choice or engage in some holiday car embellishment. Ask yourself this - does your pooch look happy in that bearded Santa ensemble? Well, he isn’t. Urban Dictionary states that you must respect your pet’s dognity -the canine version of dignity.

Aside from all of these weird holiday trends that don’t seem to go away ever, there is something nice about strolling around with the masses whilst being serenaded by tunes from ‘Christmas With Sinatra & Friends’, the melodic ballads about Christmas’s gone before. Here at If You Build It, we secretly love us some tacky Christmas merch and that for just a little while, people put aside whatever is making them grumpy and those good-time vibes kick in, with the world turning sparkly, multi-coloured and covered by a thick layer of confetti and tinsel.

However you celebrate, whether it be with an inaugural Home Alone marathon, a big, fat relative bash with good food and sweet treats (added bonus: an extensive array of quality leftovers) or a quiet one with friends, we hope it’s a real merry one. Whether it was sustainable business cards, business cards and everything in between, thank you to everyone who has allowed If You Build It to be part of their stories this year and we look forward to the projects and friends we will make in the next.
