I Am Not.....but My Husband Is

I am not really a ham....But my husband is....

He was the West Coast Ground Station for 6 of the SAREX shuttle flights....I am sure that the old hams out there know what that is...

It was where ethe school kids would talk to the shuttle when it was up....and the shuttle would talk back to them....He was not paid....He did it just because he wanted to...It was perfect where we lived at the time....Wide open spaces...and not much radio to mess with it...He had a blast....and I enjoyed telling people that my husband talked to space aliens from the car......

Do not know just why they looked at me funny....Do you?????

I just checked the CW above and while it is rather small for my old eyes it look dar de dar........Mike

Yea...that's the ticket

At times I still hear that tape.....K K K K Kangaroo.......or how ever you spell K in code that is

Well it is getting a bit easier to get your license....Just study up on code...I think that all you have to do is 5 wpm.....or might not even need that any more......Go on the FCC web site....and you can get everything that you will need to know

Yea...some of the most memorable times for my husband when my daughters were little...Where the times that they say on his lap....and played with his code key....He had a tape that said words that began with the letter that he was learning....and they learned code also......They may not remember it...But it is still a great memory for me and my husband....

And now he wants to teach the grand kids....

As for being a space nurd...Yea that he was...and still is....He made model rockets and shot them off with my daughters.....Well I think that I will write the funny story for all to read....Look for Can I have my rocket back....hehehehehe...yea...that is a real funny story

My grandfather was a ham. I still have his radio key -- a prized possession of mine...

Sounds cool! *space-nerd salute*
