As Far As Heavy Metal Goes..

I've been a fan of Heavy Metal more or less since the first Godsmack album came out.

Now, while I certainly don't consider them Metal by my standards today - I do have to acknowledge that without them I wouldn't be a fan of bands like Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Soilwork, Lamb of God, and Chimaira.

Those bands got me into the more classic stuff like Mettalica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Exodus, Sepultura, etc.

And once I started listening to them, I started liking bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Dying Fetus, Nile, Behemoth, and the like - in other words, I've noticed in my experience most people don't start out fans of the more extreme styles of metal. It's usually the stuff like "nu-metal" and (although I'm loathe to say it) "emo" that draw in new fans to the heavier stuff.

So yeah, I just wanted to point this out and see if anyone agrees with me.

And for the record, I hate emo.

Pretty much the same story for me too. That and getting sirrius radio so I wasn't stuck listening to that country crap we have out here.

Yeah, but those are all pretty much gateway bands, training wheel bands etc. That's the tip of the iceberg, and half of those bands are fake anyway. With a name like Metal Purist, I would expect UFO, Mercyful Fate, Holocaust, Bathory, Demolition Hammer, Razor, etc.

Man i ******* LOVE Dying Fetus they are amazing. I LOVE Misery Index too

.NOW YOU KNOW YOURE METAL.THANK GOD YOU DIDNT THINK GODSMACK COMES ANYWHERE NEAR BEING METAL
