The Porch

As we sit here on the bench, swaying to and fro in the wind, the fresh rain's scent lingers in my mind... I see your neon hair, draped over my shoulder and neck, as you rest your head in the crevass of my shoulder. I feel your familiar touch, holding my body tight, as the wind sighs a chill through the warm air. A rumble in the distance sends a wave of fear through you, and you hold me tighter. I wrap my arms around you, returning your security once more. I rest my head upon yours. You shift, kissing my cheek before closing your eyes. I kiss your lips, slowly and passionately, feeling our bodies' heat culminate to a near boil, then ease off. You open those aqua eyes, full of a mystery and emotion that only we can possibly understand. We gaze into the deep reaches of each other; time stands still. We explore each other's mind, soul, and feelings. We are closer than two atoms at this instance in time. The sun stings our eyes, and time resumes once more. Light glints off of your piercings, illuminating your face. I see every awesome detail of you then, every reminder of how beautiful your are, and always will be. The moment is short-lived, however, as clouds halt the shimmer. Lightning splits our eardrums, as a hot bolt sears through the sky overhead. We squeeze each other, startled and scared for a moment, then laugh with a childlike innocence. The rain picks up its pace, and we cuddle up closer, falling asleep in each other's arms.

Let me know what you think, it's my first time writing a romantic piece :).
