Not Just Any Woman…will Do!

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.Proverbs 31:

We all know many women that are sisters, aunties, cousins, grand mothers, god mothers, in-laws and women we work with. We have mothers that are teachers, our family doctor and our best friend. Most of those we love and respect and of course our mothers made a grand impression on us whether good or not so good. Mothers' tend to have this emotional power as we can’t do no wrong or she can only be perfect, flawless or ever make mistakes.

However, our mothers were human and not saints, nor without personal problems or needs. Some mothers have the capacity to help others, while some can barely take care of themselves let alone a family with children.

We need our moms for all they could provide even though at times they did not give us what we want. We knew they gave what we needed and that is her purpose.

Today there are working, lawyers, judges, and car dealer moms. Although each person works and contributes to their family's the necessary food, clothes and care while mom however, does many other things to keep  the home balanced and the members feeling loved.

Does she do this alone... some do. Does she have outside help... some do. Does she work long hours and has little time for family responsibilities... some do. Does she love what she works hard at and her family too….yes she does. Does she put herself last and others first? Can she stay awake all night with the sick and make it to work the next day? Some do but not just any woman will ...do except

The Virtuous Wife
10 Who[b] can find a virtuous[c] wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gate

A woman/mother does these things not for rewards, or the favor of men, nor the joy mother hood brings… because mothering does not always bring joy or happiness or status in life. She does these things because she loves the Lord. She loves Him with a love that allows her to share with others.

A love that fills her with what she needs to keep going strong, a love that holds her when she needs holding…a love that provides for her fruit when she is hungry for acceptance. A love that carries her to a place and through places others cannot explain.

This love from God qualities her to be a woman first, a wife and the mother her family needs as she draws from this love to do for her spouse, her kids and those in her care.

This love for God helps and sustains her to remain in the life of her loved ones and this love provides whatever they need. She can and will do anything for them because this love is the catalyst of what gets her moving day by day.

Women that are mothers and young women that become mothers and seniors that are grandmothers the mothering work we are called by God to do does not stop. This work remains part of our existence as long as there is breath and life in us. He will help us do what he has called not just any woman ...but a virtuous woman to do.

Happy Mother's Day!
