I am 27 and have known for quite a few years that I am gay but I have only very recently come out to my close friends. My family still don't know. My father is VERY conservative and I know would be very uncomfortable with it. My mother died from breast cancer nearly 2 years ago and I didn't want her to ever know because I know it would upset her and there wasn't any need because she was terminally ill when I realised how I felt about girls. My friends have been fantastic but I don't really know how to go about starting to date girls. I'm lonely and really want the excitement, intimacy and comfort of a relationship now I have finally admitted what I want but I am struggling to take the next step and actually ask a girl on a date. My other problem is that my gaydar is horrendous so identifying gay women is not going to be easy!

Any tips gratefully received!
