Sad But Proud

I met my marine boyfriend through a dating site as well. Prior to meeting him I had heard horrible stories from friends about the way their previous relationships treated them. I knew he was different, I could just feel it. I never felt so close to someone before in my entire life! He makes me smile and laugh at the dumbest things. I could talk to him forever. Four weeks after meeting him he was deployed to Afghanistan...my world crumbled. I had never felt so helpless before. I didn't know what to do with myself or how to act or how to cope. I didn't hear from him for almost a week. No one ever prepares you for the emotional toll of being a military girlfriend. We're now four months into his deployment and it does seem to get easier knowing that each day that passes is another one closer to when he finally comes home. No one ever tells you how hard you fall in a military relationship...there never are enough words to describe how much you love them or how proud you are of them.
