Does It Get Any Easier?

Hi, my name is Asia and my boyfriends name is Skyler. He left Tuesday morning for BCT at Jackson, SC. We've been together for a little over two years, and they've been the best two years of my life. Right now he's in reception, so we can talk a little bit, but I'm still having a hard time. My friends and family don't really understand so I haven't been able to talk to any of them. It doesn't help that my family thinks I'm too young to be wrapped up in a guy; I'm only 18 and Skyler is 19, but we're perfect for each other. Anyways, I think I'm just looking for another military girlfriend that has any idea when it gets easier.

I completely understand! My boyfriend has been gone for over a week now and it's terrible to have him away from me. We've been together for almost 3 years now and we've never been apart for longer than a week. So it's rough. But believe me, it gets easier.

The first couple days, I was a wreck. I was just worried and upset and didn't want to be around anyone. But once I got his mailing address, I felt a lot better. I've written him a letter every day since then and it feels so good when I write them. Just knowing that he'll be able to read them and I'll get to hear back from him is an amazing feeling.

And yesterday I got my first phone call from him, so that was really exciting!

You just need to be patient and strong for your man while he's away. It's gonna be a long journey, but so worth it.
