Me, My Son, And My Brother

my name is jenn, and i am a 25 year old single mother to my son, who is 5 and my brother, who just turned 16. I have had custody of Trey, the 16 year old and my youngest brother, Christian, who is 12 for the past 8 years. They have always lived with a friend of mine, who was a foster care mom, and able to provide for them. 4 years ago, my brother trey was diagnosed with a bi-polar disorder, he began to lash out and bow-up on my friend. this went on for months, until i decided to take him myself. for the past 2 years, it's been me, my son and my brother. it's hard to explain to my 5 year old that his uncle trey is not his brother. in his mind, they both live with me, and i take care of both of them, so surely they must both be my

for the most part, i have not had any trouble with trey. he is a good influence on my son, and helps me out around the house from time to time. recently, he has been acting out! and is driving me nuts! i don't know if it's just routine teenager stuff, or if its his disorder.

I have a fifteen year old I think is bipolar at times with his irrational behavior. It's a rough age to decipher and an even rougher one for someone who's bipolar.
You are one of those rare moms gifted with great patience. I wish you the best.

Well, it could be a bit of both. Is he being followed regularly by a doctor or a psychiatrist? If so, they should be able to provide you with some answers.
As for you, dear lady, my hat is of to you! You have taken on an awesome responsibility. You are providing your young brother with a loving home and the stability he needs to flourish. For that you have my admiration!
