I Wear the Moniker As a Badge of Honor!

I have been a nerd for as long as I remember.

In grade school, I felt that the school work was pretty easy, and I was more inclined toward books than I ever was toward sports.  As a very young child though, I didn't have to get involved with things that exist today such as designer clothes, etc.

When I first realized I was a nerd was when I worked for a large entertainment company as a business analyst.  All of my coworkers were more interested in the company's products (and artists who were on contract to the company), but I was always at my computer, trying to figure out a more efficient way to crunch the numbers....one of my coworkers called me a nerd in front of others and everyone laughed.  That was in the late '80s way before the internet burst on the scene.

In the early day's of the 'net I fell in love with the excitement of the technology, and the associated explosion, not just of the internet, but everything we have now...all of the gadgets, smart phones, digital cameras, iPods, etc.

Technology is so cool, and the more nerdy you are the better you can figure out how to use it.  The way I see it is we are in the age of the Nerd!  If you aren't a nerd, then what are you?  You are obviously not plugged into what is happening now.

Where once I was ridiculed for being a nerd, I now say proudly...Yes I am a Nerd, and I can't imagine being anything else.

Right on!

Isn't there a new name for the 80's nerd? That name has been replaced with: internet technical support specialist or data base recovery expert. These people are what helps our world turing to connect with each other. Be proud that you are what you are, my dear!

Don't ever feel bad about being a nerd. The back of my car had a huge sticker cross the top of the back window that said "White 'N' Nerdy"

What is wrong with being a nerd? I would embrace the chance at being anything besides mentally ill!! I am gifted as IQ goes but I struggle daily with depression and recovery from substance abuse. Be happy you such a gift~!

Interesting, when I was called a nerd it was because I was different...I was more tech-ie than everyone else. I was social which is why it bugged me that people that were my friends wanted to call me Nerd....but I guess part of being a nerd is being comfortable with yourself and not caring what others think....I suppose the definition of being a nerd has changed or has more dimensions than what I considered.
