I've never been very good at communication, thankfully that has been covered by my wifey (generally women are good at that :-) ). She would give earfuls and being a good hubby I would try to make amends and that's how things are getting along. I've a wonderful wife and that makes life much better. Thanks for sharing your story, in a way it has helped many people. X

So happy to read about couples that work on their marriage. We don't hear enough of that now. I've been married for 37 years& have learned the importance of communication& not taking each other for granted. Yes, it takes effort, but it is so rewarding. Too often now, another one of our friends spouse has died&they didn't say 'I love you'. So sad. Life is too short

I have been where you are now and it's heart breaking. Hopefully with renewed communication and both of you working at it, you'll be stronger than ever. Keep the fun, lust, laughter and love alive! Take care. Dx

Myah, you are so on the right road w/the flirty texts. Your problems can be fixed in a fun way. hopefully.

I do not know your monies or your schedules. Somehow figure out where to farm the kids to and date once again. Cook, serve and have a romantic dinner @ home alone. If I'm right-be careful-many last babies are born from this tried and true method. Maggie

Myah, I too found your situation creeping into my relationship with my wife. Shame on me but it was not hard to resolve. If the partners are willing and it sounds like the two of you are, then you've already settled 90% of the issues.

One of the first critical concepts we resolved is that the two of us are core, not the children. That sounds hard but really it is not. It means you love and support your children but they are not the center of our lives. We have lived with the doctrine that happy parents make happy children. And it works. We have two honor students (university/high school senior) with lots of friends who enjoy being around us but who also know we come first. My son even mentioned in his graduation speech, although many may have considered him a ferrel child, he always knew we supported and loved him and that he was a more independent person because of it.

We took every opportunity while they were younger to abandon them to grandparents. We're lucky in that my wife's parents are within 6 hours drive. When we dropped them off, even if we were just coming back to our home, the instructions were, unless one of them lost a body part, we were unavailable.

Second is we date. Nights out are like teenage date nights. I never take for granted I'm going to lucky so I treat her like I have to be on my A game if I hope to get anywhere with her.

Lastly, sex. Sex is very important. We LUST after each other. We flirt. We fondle. We take every opportunity to embarrass our kids LOL. This means we stay fresh. Body parts may hurt. So you try different positions. We may find it hard to stay up past 9PM many weeks. So we have surprise early morning sex. We take sexcations. The sole purpose being sex. Not site seeing, not camping. We do those things but they are second to getting it on!

All said, over 25 years together and it just gets better!

Please let me know if any of this helps. It's why I'm on EP so I hope you receive the same help.

that is great that you have discussed your problems and are now enjoying each other again. Communication is so important in a relationship, this is just further proof of it.

We were growing farther apart. A couple of weeks ago I was so miserable I just burst out in tears and told him all my feelings. He looked so sad, he was feeling the same way and didn't speak up either. We both felt left out even though we are so busy being parents. We have started sending flirty texts and so forth and actually look forward to seeing each other again. It almost reminds me of when we were dating but we have kids underfoot all the time. We have committed to make time for each other without the kids. We haven't had a weekend or day alone in over 18 years.

Remember, even though you are a stay at home mom....you are working just as hard as your husband. You both are making sacrifices for your family.

is he a nudist also? if so, perhaps a weekend at a nudist resort will be good for the two of you. freedom form everything is what you need and can get at a resort or park.

Wow, very much the same. The communication is a big factor. I know he loves me...he tells everyone all about me and how much he loves me but I was starting to think otherwise. I did talk to him about my concerns yesterday and we are going to make a point to have time for each other. Even if it just time to sit and talk about our day. I hope we can get our relationship back to where I feel like that special woman he made me feel like I was.

Oh wow, sounds like me. At least the relationship part of it. I was married for 18 years with 2 kids, went through a divorce. Been with my fiance' for 19 years we have 5 kids total, grown now. I do everything for everybody and now it feels like we have a huge lack of communication. I feel that your mate should be your best friend. I feel alone and no one to talk to about it. That's why I joined this site. I know he loves me, I have been told that is how men are, all men. We planned on getting married in August for moral reasons mainly because we may as well be married. I really want him to be like he was when we met. People get bored with each other or take them for granted. I don't know what to do.
