I Was Thinking - What Is Different About This Site

Hello. I was thinking about why I like this site so much, so far, and what makes it differnet from others.  I have been on MySpace, Facebook, and various forums but this one has an attraction for me that makes me want to open up & contribute.

I think it IS because it focuses on experiences - personal experiences and how people feel and think about them.  The emphasis on a lot of other sites is more about personalities; what type music they listen to, movies they like, political affiliation, and so on. I don't mean to say that these things have no value and they certainly help in getting to know people. But in my view, experiences go deeper.  The experiences I have had in my life, and am having each day, go to the core of who I am.  I would not be who I am without having gone through all the things I have been through!  The more I can process, share, and understand those experiences the better person I become.

I started a blog a while back with this theme in mind -- the idea that sharing our personal stories and experiences is the most valuable thing we can do.  In the end, what else will we be left with?

It takes courage to share and it has taken me years to feel comfortable doing so.... I commend all the people who are able to share.  I wonder if my life would have been different if the Internet had been around when I was young(er). Maybe I wouldn't have felt so alone.

p.s.  I think the site is also designed to be interactive and it encourages people to comment and connect, hopefully in a supportive way.

I agree with you, I like ep because i can express my feelings more better writing then showing them in real life it helps alot.

Thanks for the comments!

I THINK IT IS GREAT TO TALK ABOUT PROBLEMS AND HOPES AND LAUGHTER THAT WE HAVE IN OUR LIVES. READERS DIGEST SAID: LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE. I BELIEVE IN THAT--- BUT JUST TALKING ABOUT PROBLEMS, AND OTHER THINGS-- IS BETTER.

Very well said. Now that you mention it, I like this site for the same reasons, I had just not realized it until I read your story!
