I Am A Pakistani
Hello community. I am sad to see that there are not many stories here being shared. I am sure more will come. Let's only be patient. So, let me introduce myself. I am cgirl20; a 19 year old female college student, oncology major who just so happens to have Ovarian cancer....and a proud Pakistani Muslim. That's me, in a nutshell. I love my culture, my religion, my people. I am not from Pakistan, my parents are. My father is from Lahore, and my mother is from Baluchistan. You know the guys with the big ol' beards? :D Yup, that's where my mom is from. And no....I'm not just adding my experience to this group to make my mummy and daddy proud :D My father claims how I don't even "act" Pakistani, that I try to act like some pseudo-Desi or something ;) That's my daddy....No, I try to "act" as Pakistani as I can. I bet, if I tried; I could unleash a full fledged Pakistani version of myself....although tempting, because I think it would be awesome to have the accent my parents have, that high kind of squeaky hilarious accent that most people want to fake, but they can't....it's sort of like the Indian accent ;) you want to fake it, but few can master the art without sounding like a total fool :D I uh, vaguely remember trying to crack a killer Pakistani accent while my dad was slaving over a roaring grill a few summers ago, while grilling um, some sort of nasty lamb kabobs or something ;) Yeah, never really liked lamb....well, so he was cooking, and I came up behind him and pretended to have this totally awesome Pakistani accent, and ended up scaring the living tar outta my dad :D I guess....he wasn't "expecting" it? ;) I'm like my dad in the sense that he can totally "zone out" and not even pay attention to what is going on around him, so he just becomes oblivious to everything, and so any sudden noise that breaks his um, "zen zone" is bound to give him an anxiety attack. Well, he jumped about a foot in air, then yelled at me for trying to sound like a fool. And, although it totally wasn't my intention to scare my dad, I was trying to make him laugh, but he's kinda old school, and kind of lacks a sense of humor ;) It didn't go over too well, so my attempt of trying to crack an awesome FOB accent, just made me look like a benchod in the end, and pardon my Punjabi ;) But anyways, just wanted to add my story to the group. My aim in life is to bring as much joy and happiness into other people's lives as possible....I like to make people laugh, and roll on the floor in hysterics, my Pakistani American guy friend is the exact same way....ugh. His parents don't understand his Americanized sense of humor either ;) But here's the ironic thing, Navid; my fiance who is from Pakistan, he doesn't have an accent. I guess maybe I can't detect it because I have always been laughing at my parents for their high pitched Eeeen-diiii-ahhhh sounding accents ;)
Anyways, here's my story. I got to get a little bit of work done. But I hope I was able to make someone crack up in the process ;) Yes, sorry I'm sort of a white washed Desi....whoops my bad; and yes, my dad used to be mistaken for an Indian all the time. If I sit here and recount the events that occurred I will fill up like a zillion pages..... ;)
Rockin' out to a little bit of Imran Khan right now "Unforgettable" Personally, I call him "King Khan" in my opinion. ;) He IS KING KHAN!! Plus, he's Muslim so my mother approves ;) Although, she's never heard bounce Billo bounce.... ;) might change her opinion of him after that ;) LOL but I gotta get outta here. Be back :D
