Has anyone any experience with something called a 'double barrelled colostomy"?

Just a brief note for those also interested. I had the stoma moved for other reasons ( ie, to wear braces) and it was re-done as an 'outee' and made much easier to work with.

If you are going to use this full time and forever and you are having issues with leakage, try to talk to your Dr. about making the stoma easier to place into the bag.

Just switched to http://www.convatec.com/en/cvtus-sfnostmsus/cvt-portallev1/0/detail/0/1593/1935/sur-fit-natura-ostomy-system.html and find it is far better than the system I got in the hospital.

I hope all works out for you for the better. Although not in your position, I can imagine that which you wish you could experience and have missed out on.

Its just part of the changes that happen when you lose sensation below the belt line. Not better or worse. Just different. Only a few people love the contents of a bag or a toilet, I'm not one of them. Same deal either way - either you're clean or you're not. You sound like you're clean. All good at that point.

    Martha,

Hi. Thanks for sharing. Yes the exit hole can be placed anywhere. The last part of th large intestine dries things up so there is less risk of blockage. Daily and predictable maintenance is suppose to be easier. For one person eating marshmallows helped temporarily slow paristolic (sp?) Motion.

Dating and traveling with friends was difficult for another. She feared guy would not date her though a woman might be far more willing to date a guy in the position

    .

Without getting personal nor descriptive what do you think? ?
