Interesting posts, and I blending socialism and capitalism is quite interesting, I never thought about that. DIdn't even know Denmark did that! That would never fly here though, I know how high taxes there are, and people balk when someone wants to raise the relatively low tax rates here. Once again, human greed playing a major part. I hope that somehow we can overcome the worst aspects of our own human nature, but I'm sure it won't be in my lifetime.

I once again agree with grandpa but for one thing, I think the goverment 10,000 years from now will be more socialist in its nature. The gree inherant in the free market system seems to me to be so contrary to human advancement.

Blending Socialism with Capitalism is what countries like Denmark do and it works fantastically well. Denmark has the highest taxes in the world but they also have the happiest citizens. Their government is also one of the least corrupt on the planet. Most of their economy is free market but their government tightly regulates those markets while providing a world class safety net for its citizens. Health care, education, unemployment, and retirement are all taken care of, and all employees make a comfortable living so paying taxes isn't a problem.

I agree with your views on Capitalism and Socialism, which is why I think a blended system of government is the best way to go for the near future. The main problem with Capitalism is the lack of ethics and good manners while Socialism lacks drive and creativity. Using basic tenets of both systems, however, seems to correct the weaknesses of both systems.

This is a good short term solution.

Long term? Maybe 5000 years from now the world will have one government and that government will probably be Socialist because that's the best way to see to the well being of all people who live on the planet.

Really long term? Perhaps 10,000 years from now will see totally free markets and very little government control. Good manners and ethics from everyone will take a long time to establish. We've been working on that for quite a while but we haven't made much progress yet.

I do envision a future where everyone has the freedom to follow their dreams and ambitions, wherever they might lead, while , at the same time, keeping the ideas of "do no harm" and "for the good of everyone" close to their hearts.

Until then, we'll need form and structure to manage our economy and a system of checks and balances to ensure that we citizens don't screw things up too badly.
