I Am a Tall Girl
I am around 5'7" 5'8" ish in a society where the average height of girls are around 4'11" to 5'2". Men are around 5'6". Most of the time, I feel like a giant around my friends. I can mostly hug them from behind and rest my head on theirs. >_o
Once, I was wearing a pair of heels queuing outside a Japanese restaurant with my family. A pair of guys queuing behind us started to whisper to each other (except there wasn't much whispering done because I had heard eveeerything).
Guy A: Psst, don't stand next to that girl.
Guy B: Why?
Guy A: She's so tall and still she's wearing heels!
Guy B: Oh. Oh, yeah....
*sigh*
Then there comes the problem of finding shoes. I have long everything. Arms, hands, fingers legs, feet, toes. Buying shoes, especially flats, is a pain when you're size 41 (that's about US size 9.5) and every single effing store only stocks up to size 39.
I've grown used to picking up a random shoe in a shoe shop and asking, "May I know what's the biggest size you have?" Saves me the trouble of finding something I like and THEN getting told that, nope dearie, no size. Nope dearie, no size for that either. Actually dearie, no size at all in our shop. If I could get away with it, I would wear slippers everywhere. Those generic, unisex, black flipflops that sells for five dollars a pair.
Up yours, shoes store!
Well, one thing my mom told me stuck though. Tall girls look good in almost everything. And heels? Tall girls rock these things! Wear heels and feel like a model! At least there's a higher chance of getting size for back breaking six inch stiletto heels! Life's grand irony~
End of the day, how comfortable you are in your own skin is equivalent to how sexy you are. So, yeah yeah, I feel like a giant; doesn't mean I can't be one sexy giant. ;)
