I don't know what grade you teach, so this may not be helpful...

I switched from 2nd to 3rd this year because of large upcoming class size. I really didn't think it would be all that different, but BOY, was I in for an eye opening experience. I have never been so happy, professionally, in my life. It's like a breath of fresh air, and I wound up finding my niche.

Yeah, I think I might have some suggestions:

    1) First, I don't know what grade you teach, and how anal your district is about curriculum and pacing plans, but perhaps you can try incorporating new things into your curriculum. A few things that I really like doing with my high school English class to keep things fresh and fun are: poetry recitations, creative writing, using hip-hop to teach literary terms, book and movie reviews, and a lot of arts and crafts that have to do with literature, english, poetry, etc.

    2) You could try getting your admin credential and see if there are any coaching, etc positions at the district, or try your hand at being an AP. I have recently somewhat been feeling the same way as you, and have looked into getting my school librarian credential.

    3) Personal tutoring! Especially with an age group that is not close to the kids you teach. I love teaching little elementary school kids how to read. They are soooo cute compared to the eye-rolling teens that I have! And the extra money is niiiiiiice! Go to craigslist.org, and search under "jobs" and then under 'education." It might take a while, but you'll get something cool.

If I get any other ideas, I'll let you know. Keep me posted on what you decide!
