I have what's called primary enuresis. That means I've never become dry at night. My Mom tried everything- doctors, meds, rewards, punishments, promises, humiliation, alarms, nothing worked. I wet about 5 times a week, and often more than once a night.
She finally just gave up and put me back in diapers at age 6. I was horrified and saw them as shameful and regressive, but still wet just as much, if not more. She (or others) continued to diaper me until I was about 12 1/2 and begging to be allowed to do it myself. My Mom finally agreed, but said that any failure on my part would result in 'adults' taking over.
I've always been in cloth diapers (I went from baby diapers and baby pants to prefold pin-on cloth youth diapers and plastic or rubber pants). They're kind of bulky (and the pants noisy), so it's pretty hard to conceal entirely. Plus a plastic sheet on my bed (I share a room with my bro) and a diaper pail and my history of wetting which my Mom never bothered to hide, and that pretty much makes me isolated now. I had a pacifier left in my desk at school, and seen my brother and his friends laugh when a diaper commercial ran on television. They've seen me in wet diapers on sleepover mornings. It sux!
