Treehugger Musings

I love hugging trees. They just have such a comforting strength and stability. You know no matter how hard you squeeze, they won't react badly. Each tree gives life to so much else, bugs, birds, squirrels. Whenever I look at a tree, I just want to go and sit beneath it and look up in it's branches and see all the life it holds.

My favorite tree, Delia, stands in my courtyard. I hug her all the time.

I get made fun of all the time for hugging trees by my friends. Most of the time, if I see a tree and have the time, I lean up against it or I put my palm on its trunk. This way, I look like I'm nonchalantly resting, not showing the tree I respect and love it.

That's fantastic! Hug trees as if no one were looking! :-)

Same. I hug them and I touch them. They sustain us and I get a huge amount of peace from trees.

ALCOA, an American bauxite mining company, is destroying the unique Jarrah Forest of Western Australia. ALCOA wouldn't be allowed to do this in your part of the world. This is total devastation. We are left with a moonscape. The habitat of rare birds and and animals is being destroyed. It must stop. This is ECOCIDE. Where are you, Erin Brockovich?
