Never Goodbye, Always See You Later

So ladies, I'm feeling really down. My boyfriend left for his next base a few hours ago. I have to hang back here until October to finish college, but it's so hard to let him go. He's been gone only a few hours and I already miss him a lot. Watching him back out of the driveway was one of the most heart-breaking experiences I've ever felt. Friends keep telling me that he didn't choose to leave, and I know that. He told me he feels like he's abadoning me, but I know he's not. This is just so rough, I feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster. I'm happy then I'm sad, then I'm laughing and then I feel numb. I feel all over the place. I need some help/advice. Someone help?

My airman left this past weekend for Korea as well. He'll be gone for a year and its going to be rough. But realizing the service they are providing for our country helps a little. I agree with AndrewsGirl08 about planning and keeping yourself occupied. My guy left after putting a promise ring on my finger. He gets to come home in 6 months which is when he plans to propose. He told me to start planning the wedding already and it has kept me occupied. It's makes me happy to be thinking about our future as a married couple and not having to be away from him as much. Good luck. And I'm offering another shoulder if you need one. =)

Thank you so much for sharing, and of course I am here if you need a shoulder. :) Congrats on that next step in your relationship!

Oh no! I'm so sorry :( I know most don't like hearing this but it could be worse. My friends fiancé just left to be stationed in Korea for a whole year. But I've heard stories like yours and you know what? The couples are all happily married today. It must be very hard to be in your position but after this you guys can start your life together. :) just keep that in mind when the nights are hard and if you ever need someone to talk to I'm here. If this happens to me when my Airman gets out of tech school and stationed somewhere, I'd want someone to talk to too.

Thank you so much for your post, and I will definitely keep your offer of contact in mind! I'm thankful things aren't worse, believe me on that...I just knew there would be at least one person on here that would offer some help. Thank you again so much!

It's no problem at all :) But hey I'm guessing a wedding is coming around soon? Forgive me if I'm intruding, but you could occupy yourself, for the time being, with planning. I don't know if that sounds weird but I'm just assuming there will be one if you're going to live on base with him... Lol. :P

I would like to say there's a wedding in the works, but not as of yet. He wants me to move in with him, and I will after I graduate from college...I'm guessing it won't be much longer after that...but as of right now, I'm still a girlfriend. Lol!
