New To The Army Girlfriend Situation- Basic Training Questions

Best friend of 4 years and love of my life nearly as long just left for Basic last week.. he was able to sneak texts to me all yesterday but i woke to a message this morning saying he loved me so much and that his phone was being taken away.. I wanna be strong... and I will be because he means the world to me

How often is common for communication in Basic Training?
Phone calls?
texts?
etc?

also how long does it usually take for them to get letters sent to them?

After I sent my boyfriend, who is in basic, some photos of us together and his dogs he asked me to send more. Sending pictures may make someone homesick but at the same time help to keep them motivated and to remember there are people at home who love and support them.

I feel bad though.. everyone keeps telling me that sending all these pictures of back home and his family and dog and my puppy and OUR baby puppy Lilah and me and his friends and places we used to hang out and everything etc.... are just going to make him more home sick and worse off... but thats not my goal.. i just want him to feel like he has a piece of home with him always..
just like me reading all our texts from the last days he was able to text me after he left before he actually started bootcamp makes me feel like he is still close ...

OMG, I am the same way!!! When my soldier leaves and I have to do the first load of laundry since he's left, I literally cry smelling his shirts and washing his stuff!! My mom thinks I'm crazy!! LOL
I remember during OCS that I would H.A.T.E. going to bed because I couldn't say good night to him. So I'd say "Good night baby, I love you" out loud every night just like he was there. It sucked.
Oh, and I remember writing letters to him - I swear that if I didn't stop myself that I would write forever!!! And I sent him pics of me and him, too. He told me when he returned how much that inspired him to keep on chuggin' through.

Ugh well I hope Tony can keep his mouth shut and do what he is
Told then.
Because not talking to him until I drive to his graduation
In November would suck so bad... Another question about graduation... How much visiting time is allowed with family and friends I'

When my boyfriend was in basic I would get letters a couple times a week after 2 or 3 weeks into his training. As for phone calls, they can call on Sundays. But my boyfriends DS's usually used it as a reward. Bryan wasn't able to have his phone so he was never able to call during basic or text. Feel free to message me anytime girly.

Thank you. Yeah my friend jackie went in in march and she is getting bck in 2 weeks but she has been able to get her phone back for whole days at a time sometimes and facebook and stuff... so i dont know if maybe that was just special for her base or idk..

I hate not being able to see him or even just get the little texts to say "I love you baby."

i KNOW its only basic and he isnt at war but.. it almost feels like he may as well be..
It just sucks so bad.... I've decided to write him a letter everyday and mail them once or twice a week once i get his mailing address and the first 2 letters equal 15 pages already,,, i put the paper through the printer and added cute photos of me and the puppies and his mom and dog and different memories and sights back home...

I literally break down anytime i see hear smell or think of anything that reminds me of him though...

:(

It's going to be okay, I promise!!!
When my soldier left for OCS (Officer Candidate School, attended 5 years after Basic) it was just like basic all over again. My soldier snuck and texted me the first day he arrived. Then, his phone was taken away, too. Timed phone calls (from a payphone in the barracks) came about once every two weeks. There were no texts, because his phone was taken away the entire time. And about one letter per week came for me.

It takes about 3 days for them to receive our letters, of course, depending on where he is.
It's going to be okay - I remember when I had to say goodbye to the love of my life, my best friend of two years when he left. It was the worst day of my life. But, the day he came home was by far the best day. Hang in there, and please message me if you ever need to talk.
