How I Cope With My Army Boyfriend

A personal story in the experience: I Am a United States Army Girlfriend
H ello! my name is genna and i have a boyfriend in the army. I am from Scotland. Me and Kris have been together for nearly 6 months. I must say it has been the most intresting and hardest relationship i have had, however it has been the most rewarding. The things that keep me going are knowing he is being taught to be a man and i know how is enjoying every minute of his experience in the army. I support him 100% as i feel that if i gave up on him it would make both me and Kris feel lost...They need our support! one thing does puzzle me though..as i read everyone elses stories.they seem to be struggling, however i dont. I have my moments where i feel down and lonley but i always pick myself back up and get on with my life. I always insist on having a smile on my face and i tell Kris the same thing. I always make sure i am surrounded by family or friends and try and make sure i have something to do...am i wrong to be so positive?

No staying busy and positive is the key...I just have transformed my way into thinking as every day that I move forward is one day that I find myself closer to him :-) We all know it's hard, but we do what we can...

Heey .
My boyfriend is in the army, and i have been with him 9 months now and 6 of the months he has been in there.
tbh it has been one of the hardest things i have ever been through. I thought as soon as he went in there he would forget about me and focus more on himself, but tbh it has brought us closer together. we speak on the phone every night and now he has left basic training, he is home so much more often. it has took me a while to adjust to the situation and at first i was so negative about the whole thing. i would cry myself to sleeep and was just down all the time.. but that wasnt good for me and it was definatley making my boyfriend feeel guilty and upset too, but i have finally started thinking positive and started looking at all the good factors about it all. he is achieveing his dream in life and i know he will always be cumin home to me on leave. so to answer your question, no i do not think its wrong that you are so positive about the whole thing, it shows that you are a strong person and love your boyfriend alot. i jus wish i had your strength at the beginning. But im just glad that i have the strength in me now. xxx

I'm one that struggles too but it is mainly because my boyfriend has been my best friend for 5 years now. We used to spend a lot of time together even before we dated which makes it really hard some days. I know I have to be strong for him though and support him. He loves what he is doing and I love that. I know in the end of all the time apart it will only make our relationship stronger and mean that much more. Thanks for sharing and remain positive. There is nothing wrong with that. :)

Everyone handles things differently. Some will go through the struggles & find it all worth it; some will fall & pick themselves right back up & put a smile on their face & move on AND still find it all worth it. Everyones just similiar but different-- There is nothing wrong being positive; positive is great! Especially on EP, you gotta give your positive vibe to the Military girlfriend/wives; gotta give then support as well & I am sure their willing to do the same for you when you go through a rough patch (:

But continue being positive! I wish you two good luck & be strong! (:

My boyfriend just left for basic a little over a week ago. I try to stay busy, but it's really hard. I'm waiting on letters but recently found out that they can't have contact for up to 3-4 weeks...do you have any tips about surviving this?
