"A Mushy Letter"

Alright I just wanted to share this with you ladies because it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Chris is in boot camp in Benning as you all know, he is probably the biggest hardass I know, all tough, typical army guy I suppose :-) Before he left he made it a point to let me know that I would NOT be receiving mushy letters from him because he wanted to set a good example for the other soldiers. And now we are about 3 letters into it, let me share the first two lines of his recent letter...and I told him I was going to do it ~

"Baby, Valentines is tomorrow so I am writing to see if you would be my Valentine? It was awesome to hear your voice, they say absence makes the heart grow fonder and I believe it"

Hmmm...I don't know what the army is doing to him, but I'm not going to lie, I love it, this is a side of him I don't see too often, every relationship should have to endure a little distance, there are too many guys out there who don't write letters like this anymore:-) I miss him so much, and it melts my heart to know that I am on his mind that much. Hope all is well ladies, everyone keep those heads up!!!

My boyfriend also went through training in Benning, but that was before I knew him. I met him not too long after he returned home from his first deployment and we have been together for a year and a half now. I wanted to comment on your story because of the "hardass" thing you are talking about. Totally my guy! He's an officer and never shows emotion, so when he does the way it makes me feel is undescribable.

Oh wow, that is so sweet!

This story was so awesome! My bf was kind of like that too. He was talking about just being a soldier but it sounded like he wanted to be a robot with no heart or feelings. He was kind of nervous a few days before leaving to basic, then he told me he wanted to be just friends I told him it would be alright all guys go through this. When he left I started writing letters to him. The first week in reception he wrote me after that I didn't recieve anymore letters from him for a while. This past Monday I recieved a letter from him saying he missed me and that he calls his mom and dad when he could use his phone but when he gets more time he will call me. He sounds so happy and telling me how things are going and that he made road guard. He's different than when he was going to leave. The army is making him much better and stronger not only to be a soldier but to love have a heart and treat people with kindness and care. I do appreciate that from the army. He reads my letters over and over again. It just makes them care more about women and what is the right way to treat them because they have your back and care for you so much than you'll ever know.

my boyfriend is the same way! he neverr is all mushy and lovey and stuff but now he is.. most people that know him wouldnt believe hes writing the letters to me hes writing. its so cute! hes there untill octoberr for basic & ait.. hes in fort benning as well! i miss him tons!

i know exactly what you mean! My boyfriend and i have been together for almost 3 years now. he left the 15th and just started basic like tuesday-friday, sometime in between there. he was in reception the rest of the time. He has been so adorable and really been making me feel amazing. Saying how much he loves me and misses me every second and wants to marry me as soon as possible. ALl the things he is saying, just makes me feel better about things. Im pretty sure we are going to get married when i go see him for his basic graduation. Then, after AIT, i will be with him and we can plan a big wedding celebration together!

i likesexs soft feel tooheart

My boyfriend just left 22 days ago to Ft Benning, (basic training) he wont be able to call me for 6 weeks!! I'm gonna go crazy!! but we write to each other everyday I'm loving our love story. I'm new at this, it's good to know I'm not alone and I'm not the only one missing a soldier. This is hard but I'll be waiting for him no matter what.

Hey, i just am sitting in class and Taylor my boyfriend who just left yesterday back to benning=/ i hate days like this. and came acrous this site. And read that. But tay has always been at ft benning. and i miss him dearly he was the same way..no musshy letters. however that army ohh dear did it change him. and im in love with it too. I cant wait 3 more weeks and ill be down there for 2 weeks then he deploys to iraq. (safer there but still dont want him to go.)

Ok so my boyfriend is leaving for benning on June 30th and im already starting to miss him! The army just wasnt apart of the plan! but i am so proud of him for what he is choosing to do! The hardest thing is going to be not knowing..not knowing where he is..when he is coming home! or not knowing if im going to get the phone call he isnt! i deff neeed support

My soldier graduated from Benning in Ocotber as well. He is currently deployed to Iraq for three months now. I just joinded this site and was just curious on the whole military girlfriend life. Any suggestions?

My soldier was at Benning as well and it sure did change him for the better. He has been deployed to Iraq for going on three months now. We are closer than ever. I just recently joinded this site to get some insite on the whole military girlfriend life. Any suggestions? Just curious to hear and see what it's like for others.

Hi girl well I'm new to this place but your letter and boy sound so much like mine...mine also isn't that kind of guy to tell me he misses me or to do anything mushy but all his letters I've received have been so sweet n cute I love them :) n I hope he stays like that even when he is done with bct and ait congrats for us :)

that is such a sweet letter my guy is also in the army and i still have all of his letters. boot camp changes people in a good way

Ah, you're lucky!
My guy is also horrible at the mushy stuff, as am I. We manage to keep our feelings to ourselves for the moment. My guess is we'll both loose it when he gets deployed after his high school graduation. The other night, however, I did receive a call at 4am when he was on call telling me he missed me and he would see me in the morning.
Being an Army girlfriend has it's con, but I'd like to think there's more pros than anything. =]

i met my fella he is a sergeant in the army we only been together for a while, only im confused, in the beginning it was great but since he been in iraq e seems to have gone distant, sometimes i dont hear from him for weeks is this normal!!!!!! i need advice

Thats super cute :) My fiance is in basic at Ft. Benning also. He started on the 16th of January and he's in C company 2-54. What about your man?

Sounds like you can use some support. Join my my space if you have one. I used to have a b.f. in the army and it was tough. As soon as he got home we got married. You should be very proud . This will be a true test to whether you really truly are in love.

my bf went there also, he told me it is the hardest. he graduated in aug. he is in iraq now. im so happy for all u women

my bf was the same way when he went to basic. he wrote me letters like that like 4 times a week. we have been together for 5 years. he is in iraq now

Oh the letters are SO important! Something they can hold in their hands that was just in your hands a week ago, that's worth so much more than a computer screen! I mail about a letter or card or package a week -just one of the three, not all three every week, lol!

He loves them all, he sends some back when he can, but he loves them all!

Keep on writing honey! =)

So, My BF is overseas.. hes been depolyed for 5 weeks.. and ive wrote like 3 letters? but i kinda feel stupid for doing that cause i get to talk, chat, and email.... are letters important overseas or just at basic?

I read your experience and want to give a little encouragement. Let him write like this and don't encourage it.
His best will be when he is at his worst and he gives you the best without judgement.

Distance only changes them some times...But when it does...boy it sure does...

My boyfriend is in the army and he has to be the worst romntic in the entire world . He hasent deployed yet until next july but im interested to see if distance will make him better at that mushy stuff. By the way that latter was very sweet and ur lucky.

but please don't write the letters if you never intend on being the man in them, because i now have a box full cruel reminders of the man i thought i was in love with...

Yor heard it here ladies, and gents...there are females in the military.....The way to Keep the home Fires burning....Is to write those letters.....Calls are good...but you can't rehear a phone call or e-mail when you are on patrol, or standing guard...Nothing takes the place of a for real letter, written by hand....not on the computer....more personal...means more to those far away.

I was in Navy as well, letters are priceless in boot camp. I still have all my boot camp letters stashed away in my lock-box.
I remember a friend who I always considered to be one of those 'out-on-the-fringe' types from high school; he sent me a letter just letting me know how grateful he was for me that I decided to join up, and how much it surprised him that a punk like me would've decided to do that. I really changed my outlook on this friend, and we still keep in touch to this day.

I was in so let me tell you from the soldiers point. You live each day and count the minutes tell that next mail call when you are in boot, basic or what ever it is called in your branch. You are elated when you hear your name called, and if you miss a day you always have tomm. Please ladies just do not miss too many days. If you do then it gets real hard to stand there. Some Drills pick on the ones that do not get much mail..Trust me I know.. It may have been almost 30 years and there has been some changes, but not much.

As far as the military changing someone...It does not change you. It just brings out the best that was already in them..

I stand and salute all those that serve, and all those that wait...
His letters just keep getting better and better, I got three in the mail today, he tells me that my letters have drive him and get him through his days...thanks ladies for the encouragement...

My BF was in Benning also but he graduated in October. We should feel proud of our guys girls...Benning is the most difficult base! Did you guys know that? :) yup. Be proud.
