I Am a United States Army Girlfriend
So, I have a blog where I write about everything. And recently I've been writing about my soldier a lot.
Recently, I wrote about how I wondered if he thought about me as much as I think about him. He's in Iraq and I just can't imagine he has time to sit and think about me too much. Well, a guy wrote this comment on that post and I HAD to share it with you ladies. It almost moved me to tears to hear it from a guy that's been there.
"From personal experience, I can tell you he's thinking of you every free moment of the day. His buddies are telling him you're not waiting and that you're already gone, but he's holding out hope. Every moment he stares at the desert night sky, he hopes you're looking up too. Every time a mortar lands nearby, you're the first thing he thinks about; his training allows him to act without thinking. His training allows him discipline, to know what a virtue patience is, to understand that happiness requires work.
He's more worried than you are. You see, he thinks about you every free moment he's got, but he doesn't have many. He's thinking about the suspicious man skulking around the post; he's thinking about the explosions nearby or his buddies coming in on stretchers. The moments between, he's hoping you're preoccupied enough with your life too so he's not forced to post your picture on the "Wall of Shame" that inevitably resides in his platoon's common area. It's littered with photos of ex-wives, girlfriends long gone or even children who've been torn away in a nasty divorce.
As much as you want to know he's thinking of you; he needs to know you're thinking of him. Hang in there."
So, hang in there, ladies. They do think of us. And they need us.
