I met my soldier the night he deployed. We had three hours together. And I still knew. Five months into the deployment and I still think it's the best decision I ever made.

The advice I got that helped me realize I should go for it came from an Army wife. She said (more or less):

Being with a military man is not like any other relationship. You can't use civilian relationships as a gauge. Our men face life and death. It makes a day feel like a week, a week like a month. And sometimes an hour is all you need to know when maybe he won't make it many more. So, in this one thing, ignore your friends and family who will call you crazy. Follow your heart and if you want to be with him- be with him. This is his life. If you weren't going through it now you'd be going through it later so why not just start with the hardest part? Only you and he can decide what's best for you. So jump if you want to jump and if he's willing to catch you all the better.

Wow thats probably the sweetest advice I've ever been given. I actually have decided to stay with him. He only left yesterday but i know in my heart me and him can make it through this! Your incouragement means the world! My friends are slowly starting to become supportive but hearing from other people that they are doing this too and its going well means so much to me!

Not crazy at all . You already know you both have strong feelings for each other . That will help get both of you through the deployment.

You are definitely not crazy. He is going to need you when he gets back. He is going to be happy that there is someone that he could marry in the future. You should try to keep him company while he is over seas. And don't get mad at him over something ridiculous because it isn't worth it. Spend as much time as you can with him and keep him happy :)
