I Miss Him More Than Anything

My boyfriend and I have been together for three and a half years. He left for basic training at Fort Benning on November 17th and it was really hard for me to let him go. I know it's something that he wants to do and I support him 100%, it's just difficult because I've never been away from him for this long. He enlisted with his friend from home and by chance they ended up in the same company and same platoon, so it makes me feel a little better about the situation. They also got to come home for Christmas which was the best present that I could have ever wished for. They headed back to Georgia on the 4th and I've been told that he won't be able to come home for a while. I'm in college and I'm trying to stay busy, but I just get lonely sometimes because none of my friends know what I'm going through. He's my best friend and we've done everything together for as long as I can remember. I'm really happy that I found this site because reading everyone's stories helps me know that I'm not alone :) I'm still new to everything but I'm trying to catch on. If you have a soldier at Fort Benning or if you just want to talk feel free to clue me in!

    Thanks everyone, it makes me feel so much better knowing that you guys are here! I'm going back to school today so hopefully that will keep my mind off it for a little while. My moods have just been so up and down lately, it's awful :( I'm going to pack but I'll be back later to keep you updated! Thanks again!

    hey ! i totally understand. i'm only 16 and my boyfriend is 20. we've only been together for 5 months but i absolutely love him and support him. mine went to fort jackson. he started bootcamp on the fourth. idkk how im going to do it either. i've already had a COMPLETE breakdown last night. for me, writing letters help. even if i dont send them it helps to write. and i hope to go to his graduation but i doubt my parents would let me go.

    hey i have a soldier at fort benning. but he's almost done with AIT and he finished basic before he came home for chirstmas. he grad the 29th of this month. but him coming home for christmas was the best thing i got form anyone was being able to have him home. and like you i'm also in college and it gets very hard because people just dont get it. my advice for you is to stay as busy as you possibly can because it helps pass time a lot. and write him as many letters as you can because that also helps!.

    hey girl we are in the same boat.. mine left the same day and everything but he is at Fort Jackson for basic. I know its hard at first and im not gonna promise that it gets easier but i will promise that you will be just fine. The girls on here help so much, just to know that you arent the only one feeling lost without your guy. We have all felt or are feeling it now. Stay busy in school, it seems to help me lol
