Bfs Leaving :(

My boyfriend and I have been together 2 and a half years and he's leaving for basic today. I don't know what to do, I can't stand the thought of not being able to see him for 9 weeks. He is in the infantry, so most likely he will go overseas. Any advice on getting through this?

my boyfriend is leavin in a few hours for korea and he is goin to be there for a year and wont beable to talk to him much. is it easy to keep love together that far distance?

thank you so much everyone for the advice its helped

The above comment was excellent advice. And I just want to emphasize the writing part. WRITE HIM LOTS OF LETTERS. Even if he doesn't have time to write back, write to him all you want. My boyfriend loves getting letters from me he says he wants them to be longer and it's like christmas all over again.
And I'm sure you've heard this plenty of times (I know because i sometimes get sick of hearing it myself) it goes by fast. I can't believe it's already been almost a month since my bf left for basic. And althought it's difficult at times just keep counting down the days.. .it helps honestly.

Breathe...
1) Where is he?
2)Wherever he is write LOTS of letters telling him you are proud of him, love him, and miss him.
3)NEVER make him feel worse for leaving you...he is doing something special and courageous and doesn't want to leave you anymore than you want him to leave
4)Stay busy! BUSY, BUSY, BUSY...give yourself a specific amount of mope time....(like a week...) and then get back to life...he needs to know you'll be okay
5)I love have a countdown...but only when it is double digit...anything higher is just depressing to me.
6)DO NOT distract your soldier...he has a job to do...
7)ALWAYS remember he loves you and misses you...he is not going to cheat...he may not be able to write and talk as much but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to...
8)We are ALL here if you ever need to talk....
