Posted May 7th, 2009 at 9:08AM Oh yea the gun range, Chase loves to take me there and teach me how to shoot. For the record I am not very good, and it makes me fret and get sweaty. I don't like guns but it some how makes him feel better. while he tries to teach me, he also talks alot about work to me at the range which is why I go, I honestly think it has helped in the PTSD department, it relives his stress and helped us reconnect too. Ever underestamate the connection you can find at gun range. I still don't like to go though...
Posted May 7th, 2009 at 4:33PM I would love to take him to the gun range. I know he loves it... but we are in Korea. There arent any on base we can use. Then we havent found one around Korea we can use. Last night we cooked together, bbq which is his favorite, then I rubbed his back and hands a feet, then we cuddled and watched movies and a few other things and it really helped him relax. He said he felt better this morning. But tonight I think we might do something similar. Like go to his baseball game, come home and cook together then watch movies and what not. Its Friday so it might help him have a good weekend... Thanks guys for the advice! :)
Posted May 9th, 2009 at 8:15AM I didn't see my husband until he went on leave in March. We got married on the 6th of April, then he went back to Germany soon after. But while he was here, just about every night before we went to sleep, I would give him a back, neck and shoulder message. I would even message his head. He says it feels really good. I picked up message oils from a health food store to use. Some regular oil and some essential oils. One is eucalyptus and the other is spearment (his favorite). I have always wanted to become a message therapist, so it helps when I get to 'practice' on my husband. Most nights when I gave him a message, it actually relaxed him so much that he would fall asleep. Since he's been back in Germany, he has been working some extra long hours, including having to do CQ several times a week. When I have talked with him on the phone, there would be times when he would tell me that he really misses my back messages. He said that he can't get to sleep as easy anymore without one. Also, he messed up his back just a couple weeks ago and had to start wearing a backbrace. He said he really needed a good message then That makes me feel good to know that he really does need me to be with him and it makes me happy to know that something I enjoy doing, has really helped him a great deal as well. So yeah, I'd say one thing that your soldier would love, is a good message! I would give one to my soldier every night if I could. But it's up to you how often you give one to yours. And don't forget the oils! If you can, pick up some regular message oil and also get some essential oils. It will make it easier and you will both smell good when you're done! Lydia B. 19 MN
