Your story is so familiar to me ...

But you can't change people. :(

Why? Don't know. I once had someone take me to task because I enjoyed some Cheetos with my lunch, saying, "You see, I don't need stuff like that." I told her that (a) I didn't need it, but wanted it (isn't there anything she eats that she shouldn't? No? Liar.) and (b) that it was really not her problem; she isn't my Mom; I'm an adult; let it go.

She seemed bound and determined that she was going to "convert" me back. Fortunately, it was at a temp job, and I was only needed there for a week.

Crazy girl, like I said people see vegetarians as freaks. You did well not to react to her interfering, I can't tolerate people like her. Who cares what people eat?.

I've been a vegetarian for 27 years too, and I remembered a decade ago it was really hard, but now it is really accepted in my country. When among family and friends there is always another veggie.

Even in weddings, the catering always consider the veggie attendants.

It is surprising to me to read your comments, since I live in a very little south american country...

sounds like where you live could teach us some lessons in vegetarianism. I visited florida last year and the food/chefs were top class in disneyland. I have never eaten so well and had so much choice. thanks for taking time to comment, it is good to hear other stories/views on this :-)

Thanks Papri, the world especially in england haven't accepted vegetarianism fully yet. I really get frustrated when I have to explain to restaurants what a vegan diet is. It isn't easy being a vegetarian and many times I wish I wasn't just for an easier life but I cannot stand the the taste of meat, fish and dairy products.

Wow...its amazing..you are vegetarian..I aspire to be one maybe someday...I have veg food mostly but I have milk..and eggs sometimes..no meat :) Being veg and having food outside can be tough one to choose..and yes sometimes people dont realize that they shouldn't hurt others feelings.
