Looking For Advice..

Hi there!
I am a vegetarian and have been for about 6 months. I wanted to be a vegetarian since I was 12 but my parents kept talking me out of it. Now I am 18, and they respect that I am old enough to make my own decisions.
I love everything about being a vegetarian! I love that animals are not hurt for me, that I am not ingesting the unhealthy hormones that are in meat, that I am getting a lot less fat in my diet, and that I am even helping the environment! (if you didn't know, cows 'emissions' are more damaging to the planet than cars)
The reason that I need advice is because this summer I am going to Africa for 3.5 months. There, the meat is not mass produced, it is from small farmers. I am scared that I might offend the family I am staying with if I don't eat the food that they offer and I also don't want to miss out on their culture. Should I eat meat during my time in Africa? Should I 'ween' myself into it, and eat small amounts of meat before I go?

I think eating meat could be dangerous for you there , different bacteria and hygiene standard like in the west . If you tell them from the begging you are not eating meat , they will most likely understand.
