Seitan....my New Favorite Protein

I have really been fond of Seitan for going on a year now....I like the texture of it when it gets done baking....it tastes so good and is such a lean clean protein I would recommend to anyone. It takes a bit to figure how to get it to come out in a texture that you like but it is my favorite protein that I like as much as nuts or beans. Rosemary and garlic are two of my favorite components in it. Try it, you may just love the taste...plus you can add barbecue sauce to it if you like, that's good also!

Have a very good friend that gave ma a recipe for seitan. I do not remember any Rosemary though. How much do you use? Mine always comes out looking like a loaf of bread. How much yeast do you use?
Mine tastes good, but it looks different than what I had when we went out to eat.

Yeah...there are all sorts of ways to do it.....here's my special recipe I like and I like pulling pieces out so they look like little cutlets. These are the easiest to grab easily and cutup in salads, curry, any entree.
2 cups Vital Wheat Gluten Flour
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp or sprinkling of rosemary
2 Tbsp soy sauce
2 cups water
Mix dry ingredients then add water.....pull out litle pieces and put onto a greased baking/cookie sheet at 330 -350 degrees
bake for about 20 mins. give or take~

This is my personal recipe thaI tweeked that has a taste I love...maybe you will also!
