Some people think that I'm frigid or somehow ****** up for not wanting to have sex. I encounter this attitude especially when I tell people that I want to wait until I am in a committed relationship to have sex. Why do I want to wait? Because I don't share my body with people I do not trust. I encounter such backlash against this idea when I express it. Even some fellow feminists view my approach as "sex-negative". What entitles a passing man to enjoy my body against my own comfort? Why is not wanting a one-night-stand  "strange" and "sex negative"?

    I agree. I'm the furthest thing from prudish... but I'm waiting for someone I'm committed to to exercise that.

    Wanting a relationship not a one night stand is a powerful choice. A hard one but a rewarding one... Trusting one person to be able to share intimacy with is a decision which many young women even men should follow.

    Consider this: the guys who who talk badly about you are just frustrated because they can't have sex with you while the girls are just jealous because you have the integrity and intelligence to wait rather than being suckered into losing your virginity at the hands of some smooth talking guy the way most women do.



    You're really smart to put so much thought into this choice and to demand that the guy is special and won't see you as just another "conquest" on his list that he can brag about with his friends and get "points" for.



    The bottom line is this:

    It's YOUR choice because it's YOUR body!



    You don't tell others what they should do with their bodies so no one should tell you what to do with yours!

    My friend Mattie once declared "losing your virginity is a special thing" and I agree with her on that and don't think losing it on a whim is the best idea...
