Waitress Hero

A personal story in the experience: I Am a Waitress
I find myself going to work every day wishing i was going to another occupation. but , once i get there i am reminded why i stay. i love to work with people and somtimes all a person needs is a good meal and a friendly smile to make on off day on. i am currently seeking another occupation but plan to still pick up shifts every now and then for some extra money. i  am 22 years old with a 3 year old duaghter. the economy has been down so tips seem to have gone down too. just yesturday i was reminded why i loved waitressing to begin with. ...

....a women probably in her mid 60s came in, she is a victim of cancer ( my mother having bone cancer really made me relate with her) she was so week and brittle but kept on smiling. all she wanted was some hot tea. at my resturant the hot tea we serve is out of indiviual tea bags you serve with hot water in a coffee cup.  so i also put a few packs of honey on the suacer beside the tea bag. when i came back to chek on her she was just so thankful for the honey! she said she had never tried it before and she loved it. it made my day to see how somthing so simple could make someone who had every right to be bitter just so happy. i ended up giving her about ten packs of tea and honey to take home with her. i figure if it makes her happy she can have it she is probably one of about 4 other people that ever order hot tea so i knew it wouldnt brake us. and if it was my mom i would want somone to treat her the same way.

my conclusion to this is to remember we are heros in our own right. we have the power to make somones day better at just a tone in our voice and a smile on our face. a kind gesture, or an extra effort made. it takes a special type of person to wait on tables, i commend every wait staff/ servers out there.!
