It Took 20 Years To Write My First Novel.

I have always thought of myself as a writer.  I attempted (with very poor results) to write my first 'novel'  when I was 11 years old.

At 17 years old,  I started my second attempt.....I worked on this project diligently for several years,  and in a naive, idealistic way,  I believed that it was a good story.  When I was 21 years old,  my girlfriend in college accidental erased it.

This temporarily set back my writing career.   Devastated,  I stopped writing all together......for years.   The story I was working on would not die though.  It continued to brew inside my imagination.   I read,  experienced life,  I matured,  and then at the age of 34,  I took up the pen one more time.

Again,  it was a short lived experience.   I began re-writing the novel I had started as a teenager,  and worked daily for months.  One weekend, my house was broken into and my computer was stolen.  Just as the first time when I lost all of my work,  I had no back up.

2 1/2 years ago,  I began again.   (This time,  I kept 4 working back-ups of the project, stored in separate locations at all times)

I am quite pleased to announce that I have recently finished this project,  and am now looking forward to the future!

Wow - well done! Just goes to show, no matter what life hands you, it's up to you to make your own luck, isn't it? Good luck with getting published too.
