3-4 Bags Per Day Addiction

I am, without a doubt, addicted to crisps. I have always had a fondness for crisps but if I don't get my average of 4 bags per day I am cranky, sad and feel I am missing out on something. I have been 2 days without a bag and that was so difficult. One day I even refused to get fuel for my car, even though I needed it so badly, because I was worried about seeing all the crisps and knew I couldn't leave without grabbing a few bags. When I was younger a bag a day was enough. I was healthy and a decent weight. Now I am 4 stone overweight (so yes, obese, although I hate that word), and I am always feeling sicky, lightheaded, tired and down. I som ametimes replace dinners with crisps but the worst time is sitting there at night chomping away and the lovely comfort feeling they give me. I need to do something about it now. My eldest son is following in my footsteps and I need to set a good example. I am ashamed of myself and I would love some tips.

Hi. I know how you feel it's not an easy thing to try and avoid crisps is it. Like you say where ever you go they are usually found. It's so sad that such a nice tasty snack can be so bad for us. I've tried really hard his year to eat less of them.

First thing I had to do was monitor how much I was actually having so for a whole month I wrote down everything I ate.

It worked out that I was getting through about 10 small bags a week. Even though the bags were small they each contained about 9G of fat. I figured that was around 90G of extra fat a week that I didn't need so this made me cut down in itself.

I started off by reducing my crisp intake by one then two then three until I no longer have the one pack a day that I'd managed to get too. Eventually I was strong enough to not take any to work with me. I didn't need them in my draw "just in case".

Now I have just 1 bag a week it's not easy last week I had 2 bags but I new that if I fell of the wagon I'd be back to the slippery slope of "binge crispping", again.

Also my IBS has calmed down a lot. I'm no longer as bloated and in as much pain now I've cut down significantly.

I hope that some of my tips help you. I also forgot to say that for each packet of crisps I left of the menu I added an organic piece of fruit. It has to be organic because it's the tastiest fruit, not watery and flavourless.

It's the flavour that we crave and If we change the flavours we introduce to our pallets then maybe just maybe one day we can walk down the crisp isle and not even worry that we're there at all.
