I Am An Addict That Has Made The Choice Not To Indulge

I smoked for 25 years - just about a pack a day. I attempted on several occassions to quit smoking and failed. After losing one of the most important people in my life to lung cancer I knew it was time to quit. Watching someone you love die is a real wake up call. Twelve days ago I decided to stop - cold turkey... And like any other addict I went through withdrawals that ranged from no sleep, to anxiety to my mind telling me I needed nicotine. I dont... I will always be addicted but will choose not to cave or give it the power over me.. Ive decided to take it one day at a time. I will not smoke today and that will be my mantra everyday.
