It Runs In The Family

Believe it or not, descendants of alcoholics can be more susceptible to alcohol abuse. My family is proof.

Every generation on my mom's side of the family has had an alcoholic in it (thankfully neither of my parents have been alcoholics.) My great-great-grandfather, great-grandfather, grandfather, uncle and cousin have all had problems with alcohol.

Currently, I don't drink. (I won't be 21 until December.) But when I do turn 21, I know I will probably drink on occasion, but I will have to be very careful in order to not become an addict.

The genetics part is also a reason that I don't drink. I'm 21 and haven't had a drink yet. I even got booed at a Texas Roadhouse for not having a drink on my 21st birthday, but I laughed with them. It was all in good fun.
There's a lot of pressure to drink at this age. But we know ourselves best, and we make our own decisions.

Ah, the pre-school drinking days :D (I mean before school, not in "pre-school" haha)...
The bliss, the paranoia, the suspicious teachers. All good stuff.

I have alcoholics in my family too (mainly my father) I'm only 20 and I already have a serious drinking problem. Thankfully I have a wonderful boyfriend who stopped the issue before I got hurt.
